Queensland Marine Turtle Network

The Queensland Marine Turtle Network (QMTN) was formed with a focus on fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Its primary objective is to bridge knowledge gaps, unify efforts, and create a cohesive platform for initiatives across Reef regions in Queensland. By working together, we can enhance turtle conservation efforts and avoid duplication, contributing to a brighter future for these species.

Join the Queensland Marine Turtle Network

The QMTN supports community groups, Traditional Owners, and Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger groups involved in Queensland's turtle monitoring and stranding activities to boost marine turtle conservation efforts in Australia. We also welcome affiliated organisations contributing to research or supporting marine turtle conservation nationwide. If your organisation is interested in joining the QMTN, download the application forms and our Terms of Reference below.

2023 Queensland Marine Turtle Network Forum

The inaugural QMTN Forum was held on 27 May 2023 in Bundaberg (Taribelang Bunda Country). Forty-six participants (including eleven online) attended the event from around Queensland from the Cape (Lama Lama Country) to the Gold Coast. The Forum aimed to increase collaboration, cohesion, and resilience amongst network members to increase knowledge sharing and reduce duplicated efforts between marine turtle groups.
